Thanks to the cooperation of the PORT Foundation with OSRAM, a modern educational laboratory was created at the Łukasiewicz – PORT Institute in 2022, enabling classes in fields such as photonics and material chemistry. The year 2023 was marked by the development of the workshop offer and other educational forms consistent with the implementation of the mission of social responsibility of science by Łukasiewicz – PORT and Gardens of Experiences. This mission was a success – in just the second year of operation, the Gardens of Experiences team organized over 900 workshops for nearly 8,400 children! Thanks to the Foundation’s support, some of the events were held free of charge.

‘The institutions with which the PORT Foundation has signed a cooperation agreement include: District Authority Office in Środa Śląska and the Municipal Office in Miękinia. As part of these agreements, as well as thanks to the financial support of the Foundation, up to several thousand children a year can benefit from free workshops, events and activities encouraging young people to explore the fascinating world of science”, says Paweł Kurant, vice-president of the management board of the Polish Center for Technology Development Foundation. ‘Selected events, such as participation in the Lower Silesian Science Festival and some workshops, are held with the financial support of the Foundation. The amount of financing depends on the pool of funds provided by donors, therefore, as every year, we strongly encourage you to donate 1.5% to the PORT Foundation”, adds Paweł Kurant.

The funds obtained will be entirely allocated to the implementation of the Foundation’s statutory objectives. In addition to supporting scientific and educational activities, they also include supporting young talents, implementing pro-ecological projects and, among others, promoting a healthy lifestyle. Every year, in cooperation with the Łukasiewicz – PORT Foundation, a Science Picnic is also organized – an event aimed at the local community, during which the campus in Pracze Odrzańskie opens up to the public. Participants then have a unique opportunity to talk to scientists, take part in numerous lectures, workshops and scientific activities, as well as visit laboratories where researchers work on a daily basis.

By donating 1.5% to the PORT Foundation, you provide access to creative forms of knowledge acquisition for children from different backgrounds, support the development of young talents and competencies that will have a direct impact on the quality of life of future generations.

The first edition of our research program “Light of Science” for high school students has come to an end. It’s time for summaries!

165 hours of theoretical classes and workshops in the professional laboratory at Łukasiewicz – PORT.

33 meetings dedicated to photonics and materials chemistry.

36 participants.

6 Wrocław high schools: Adam Mickiewicz High School No. III in Wrocław, High School No. V in Wrocław, K.K. Baczyński High School No. VII, Bolesław Chrobry High School No. XII in Wrocław, Polonia Belgijska High School No. XIV, and Bilingual High School EKOLA at EKOLA School Complex.

Under the guidance of experts from the Łukasiewicz – PORT Institute, young scientists had the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience and conduct experiments in a professional laboratory. They independently produced aspirin, artificial blood, and mixtures of liquid crystals. They also learned the basics of electron spectroscopy and the construction of liquid crystal displays. The “Light of Science” program is implemented by the PORT Center for Technological Education – Gardens of Experiences in cooperation with the PORT Foundation of Polish Center for Technology Development and OSRAM OptoSemiconductors Sdn. Bhd. After the holidays, we will resume the “Light of Science” program and invite high school students to participate in the next edition!

Our research program for high school students in Wrocław at the midway point! 72 hours of immersion in a modern educational laboratory, discussions, and exchange of experiences. Since January, Łukasiewicz PORT has been hosting students from Wrocław’s high schools, who, under the guidance of experts, delve into knowledge through hands-on experience.

The young scientists have already taken a close look at various topics, including the composition of aspirin, learning how to handle liquid crystals, and creating artificial blood.

Students from Adam Mickiewicz General High School No. III in Wrocław, General High School No. V in Wrocław, K.K Baczyński General High School No. VII, Bolesław Chrobry General High School No. XII in Wrocław, Polonia Belgijska General High School No. XIV, and the Bilingual General High School EKOLA in the EKOLA School Complex feel right at home in the educational laboratory at Łukasiewicz PORT.

The classes are organized by the Polish Center for Technology Development Foundation, the PORT Center for Technological Education – Gardens of Experience, in cooperation with OSRAM OptoSemiconductors GmbH.

The Foundation of the Polish Center for Technology Development and the PORT Center for Technological Education – Gardens of Experience participated in the Educational Fair. The representatives discussed the educational programs being prepared for children and youth. The primary goal of these programs is to explore the world of science through experiential learning and active participation in scientific and research workshops held in the professional laboratories of the Łukasiewicz PORT Institute.

The County Educational Fair in Oborniki Śląskie is an event aimed at primary school students who will be participating in the recruitment process for county secondary schools in the 2022/2023 academic year. We thank them for the invitation!

We are celebrating an important day! Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Development and Technology, Mariusz Jerzy Golecki, and the Director of Łukasiewicz PORT, Andrzej Dybczyński, signed an agreement today for the equipment upgrade of the Institute. This means that the headquarters of Łukasiewicz PORT will expand to include the remaining buildings and the Pracze Campus, which has been provided by the City of Wrocław for this purpose.

The reintegration of the campus lays the foundations for the Institute’s development in the perspective of the coming decades. It will enable the realization of many ambitious scientific, research, and educational projects and represents an opportunity for the revitalization of the remaining historical buildings and green areas of the Pracze Campus.

Now, we face a lengthy and costly process of restoring the new part of Łukasiewicz PORT Institute to its former glory and adapting the buildings to new functions.

The reintegration of the Pracze Campus is a milestone in the development of Łukasiewicz PORT Institute. How it came about, what it means for Łukasiewicz PORT, and when we can expect to see the effects of these changes are some of the topics discussed by the Director of Łukasiewicz PORT, Dr. Andrzej Dybczyński, in an interview with Echo24: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M708goM2-u4.

We recommend watching it!
